Sara “Lu” Colabucci is 80-years-old. She made her first platelet donation in 1974, and has been doing so every month since. Although she lives 150 miles away from the hospital she donates to every month, she still makes the trek.
“I don’t understand why everybody thinks so much of it,” she said. “I more or less think it’s our duty to look after one another.”
It is estimated that Lu has saved over 600 lives.
